Got a $15 check from the King County Democrats for the transfer of kcdems.org to a new registrar. Preparing to move to a new website here as soon as that transfer is complete.

Three checks to deposit

The first from Larry Phillips, for a 2 year renewal of his website at Moniker.com. $16.04

The second and third from Carole Glickfeld for updates to her website. She published two additional works in Germany, and wanted to make sure that they were on her site. Total $125.

Need ideas

I got a renewal notice for ChangeforWashington.org, which was a domain I intended to put up a few years ago in parallel with Democracy for Washington. Ah, that time thing.

Anyone have ideas on what I could do with this domain?

Ken Jacobsen followup

Renewed kenjacobsen.com at Network Solutions. $34.99 for 1 year!! I'm transferring that as soon as I can figure out how, that's just outrageous. But required, since that's where it was originally registered and it had expired under their control. Lessons learned.

Expired?!

Going through the hosting renewals included kenjacobsen.com. I was only handling the hosting of this website, not the domain, but it was a surprise to click on the link to check the site and have Network Solutions tell me that the domain had expired. I'm checking with Senator Jacobsen to see if he wants me to grab it before someone else can.

Renewals

Got a reminder from Directnic about some domains, and registered the following for another year:

wa-democrats.net, which is a redirect to wa-demchairs.org.

phyllisgkenney.com, hopefully someday Phyllis will send me something to post on her website.

caroleglickfeld.com, from a friend in the MDC.

Digging into the details

Damn, I've got a lot of domain names. I just went through on Buxfer and updated the Directnic transactions to reflect which domain each one was for. Now I need to do the same thing with my transactions at Sitelutions and the other services I use.

The goal is to be able to pull up reports at the end of the year for each client, and provide a record for each that I can send out.

Sitelutions Customer Service

Had a hosting account renewal come through for the following:

metrodems.org, kenjacobsen.com, workwomanspress.com, caroleglickfeld.com, seattlewebcrafters.com

This is my core account, and I noticed that instead of just 4 add-on domains for the above websites, I actually had 8. Couldn't find a way to delete them on Sitelutions.com, so I contacted their customer service.

Same day, they deleted the extra 4 add-ons.

I love Sitelutions. Their customer service is fantastic, and I have yet to be disappointed about anything. It's money well spent!

larryphillips.com

Moniker let me know that larryphillips.com was within 60 days of renewal, so I renewed the domain for an additional 2 years for 16.04. Not a bad price. I would transfer it, but this is half what DirectNIC charges, and I don't trust transfers as much as I used to.

wa-democrats.com

The WSDCC sent me a $74 check to cover my expenses trying to get wa-democrats.com. They even specified what the expenses were on the tear off, with $59 going to SnapNames and $15 going to DirectNic.com. Someone in that office pays attention!

46dems.org

I GOT IT BACK!!!

In 2003, when I was first getting involved in the party, I volunteered to help Scott White with the 46th district website. The webmaster at the time lost track of the domain name, 46dems.org, and we lost it to a squatter.

I got it back today. $15 well spent!

wa-democrats.com redirect now works

Yes! This was the goal. For the last few years, wa-democrats.com has redirected to the state Republican party. No longer. And I already own wa-democrats.net, and have it redirected to the Washington State Democratic Chairs Organization.

Transfer failed

Lessons learned. You usually have to wait 60 days before trying to transfer a domain after purchase, and at mydomains.com redirects require that the DNS entries be set locally. I fixed the DNS last night and I'll try the transfer again in December or January.

Deposit

From: Karen Marchioro Democratic Party History Project
Amount: $15
For: Domain name (wademhistory.org)

Betty Means and Jeff Smith are working on this project, trying to collect the history of the party before memories are lost to time. The Washington State Dems went through a lot of changes over the last 50 years, and time did not start in 2003 when Howard Dean ran for the nomination. Too many people think it did. :)

wa-democrats.com

I was able to get the domain from the squatter that had it redirected to the Washington State Republican Party, and I'm working on getting it transferred to my DirectNIC account so I can redirect it to wa-democrats.org, where it should have been from the beginning.

This cost me $59 for the domain, and $15 for the transfer between registrars.
